Vanilla Libre

The classic Cuba Libre is great, but sometimes you want more of a “dessert vibe” without turning it into a kids’ drink.
Licor 43 does that, dark rum rounds it out, lime keeps it crisp.

 Ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • 25% dark rum
  • 10% Licor 43
  • 65% (vanilla) cola
  • Dried lime slices, 2 pieces per glass

Choose your cola

  • Regular cola, fresher, more classic.
  • Vanilla cola, a stronger vanilla effect, rounder and smoother.

 Method:

  1. Take a (highball) glass and fill with ice.
  2. Pour in the rum and Licor 43.
  3. Top up with (vanilla) cola, stir once briefly.
  4. Add 2 dried lime slices per glass.

Normally, a Cuba Libre also includes a splash of lime juice, here the dried lime slices take over that role.

Thanks to the slow drying process, the aroma is concentrated, they add a surprisingly dry, fresh citrus kick that tightens up the sweeter vanilla notes nicely.
